Arab Citizens in Israel’s Political Arena: Unity Government, Corona Crisis and Annexation Discourse | June 18
Over the last year and a half of elections, the Joint List party energized Israel’s Arab voters with a vision of deeper participation in Israel’s national political arena, and more Jewish citizens welcomed the idea of an Arab-backed government. In the wake of the Corona crisis, however, a unity government was formed without Arab leadership. How have Arab citizens’ aspirations for political participation and influence been affected? How did the Coronavirus crisis affect Jewish-Arab relations, and how is annexation discourse and protests affecting the vision of political cooperation going forward?
On Thursday, June 18 at 12pm EST Fida Na’ra Tabony, Hadash member and Founder and Co-Director of Mahapach-Taghir, a grassroots feminist community organization, and Ron Gerlitz, Executive Director of aChord and frequent columnist on Jewish-Arab political partnerships in Israel joined us for a discussion on these and related issues.
