SVF and IATF Convening Explores Challenges and Opportunities for Philanthropy in Israel’s Changing Landscape
In mid-May, the Social Venture Fund for Arab-Jewish Equality and Shared Society (SVF) and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Israeli Arab issues (IATF) convened a day-and-a-half long event to discuss the current implications and possible roles for philanthropy in the field of Arab-Jewish equality and shared society with respect to the challenges associated with the new Israeli Government. Over 60 SVF and IATF members participated along with Arab and Jewish thought partners representing NGOs and philanthropic organizations from Israel. Sessions and small-groups looked at recent government actions and legislative agenda affecting Arab society; commonalities between the democracy movement and shared society field; and trends and priorities among funders in the field. The event concluded with facilitated reflection on the major questions raised, the potential next steps, and priorities for further discussions.
