The Task Force Foundation Forum and Jewish Funders Network hosted a conference call with Professor Manuel Trajtenberg, Chairman of Israel’s Council for Higher Education’s (CHE) Planning and Budgeting Committee. Professor Trajtenberg to provide updates on the Israeli government’s $82 million Six Year Plan to enhance Arab access to higher education and announce the first-ever scholarship fund established specifically for talented Arab students to pursue studies in high demand professions.

Arab students are significantly underrepresented in fields of study that make up Israel’s core economic growth and are in short supply of a qualified workforce – such as computer science, engineering and business. The Israeli government is committing $1Million for academic year 2013-2014 to partially fund scholarships for Arab students in such areas and the CHE is seeking partners for government matching funds to reach more students and sustain momentum over the next four years.
