Israel’s Arab Society: Update on Needs, Activities & Philanthropic Responses to the COVID-19 Crisis | April 30 2020

In March, Arab civil society organizations and leaders established a dedicated Emergency Situation Room for Arab Society to coordinate the national Coronavirus response with the needs and realities of Arab communities, and to support local authorities in meeting health and welfare priorities. In parallel, a situation room was also established in the Negev to address the specific crisis-response needs in Bedouin society.

On April 30, Nihaya Daoud, Professor of Public Health, Ben Gurion University; Ahmed Al Sheik, Executive Director, Galilee Society; Kher Albaz, Chair of the Board, AJCEEC; and Batya Kallus, Israel Director, Social Venture Fund and Mubadara shared insights into the ongoing needs of Israel’s Arab citizens and the work of both situation rooms. Moderated by Alan Divack, Co-Chair, Social Venture Fund for Jewish Arab Equality and Shared Society and in partnership with the Task Force, Jewish Funders Network and Social Venture Fund.
